This evening, Hollywood will gather for the Golden Globes, the first major awards show of 2025. But Deadline reports that celebrity couple Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively won’t be there, despite Reynolds’s film Deadpool & Wolverine receiving a Golden Globe nomination in the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category.

The outlet specified that their decision to skip is not because of Lively’s lawsuit against It Ends With Us co-star and director Justin Baldoni. Lively filed her complaint in New York federal court in December.

Rather, Reynolds and his co-star Hugh Jackman mutually decided awhile ago that they wouldn’t attend the Los Angeles ceremony. Since Reynolds will not be present, there’s no reason that Lively would accompany him.

The couple often supports each another at red carpet events and awards shows. At the same time, they are careful to balance those obligations with their busy family life.

In February 2024, Lively spoke with her Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants co-star Amber Tamblyn on Tamblyn’s Substack show, Further Ado, about the ground rules she and Reynolds established after getting together in 2011 in regards to their careers.

“When Ryan and I got together, we made a rule not to work at the same time,” Lively explained. “So that we could always prioritize our personal life.”

She continued, “That takes working really hard when we’re not. Just like financial planning and sustaining that; it takes balance.”

At the time, she was busy shooting her hit CW show, Gossip Girl.

“I’m used to working hard and going and going and going and going and not stopping,” Lively reflected. “Especially, Gossip Girl was six years of my life, and we were sometimes shooting three episodes at once.”

The couple got married in 2012, and Gossip Girl ended in December of that year. They’ve gone on to have four children: three girls named James, Inez, and Betty, and, most recently, a son named Olin.
