After skipping the Critics Choice Awards and BAFTAs, Elle Fanning returned to the red carpet tonight for the SAG Awards. The A Complete Unknown actress elevated the peplum trend, wearing a sleeveless black Loewe column gown with a ruffle at the waist. She accessorized with striking silver and green jewelry from Cartier, including a necklace, bracelet, and ring. She wore L’Oreal Paris beauty products, including its Colour Riche Satin Lipstick in Le Rouge Paris.

Last month, Fanning spoke to Harper’s Bazaar UK about what the Bob Dylan biopic film says about navigating fame. “Such a big question that the movie asks is, ‘Where do you draw the line between making up who you want to be, and the truth?’” she began. “Truth is so important—we should fight for it. But as an artist, it can be alluring [to distance parts of yourself from the public eye], and I find myself doing it at times, probably subconsciously because it’s a protection. Because if people know too much about you and your history, when they are watching you perform, they’re thinking about that, rather than your art. I think Dylan was really smart, and ahead of his time, about handling that. Creating a mystery so that people would focus on his music, or what he was doing on stage.”

She also praised her co-star Timothée Chalamet’s performance as Dylan, which earned him an Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role nomination this evening. “Watching him transform like that was astonishing—but it’s not a caricature,” she said. She revealed that going in, the two stars were “friends from before, so there is a warmth and playfulness that we could bring to Bob and Sylvie, [Fanning’s character, who was Dylan’s first serious girlfriend in the film].”
