After winning the SAG Award for Best Actor last Sunday, Timothée Chalamet might just take home his first Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role this evening, too. So it’s only fitting that the A Complete Unknown actor dressed for one of the biggest nights of his career with a equivalently bold look. He arrived to the 2025 Academy Awards wearing a butter-yellow custom Givenchy suit, highlighting one of the spring’s hottest trends.
A Complete Unknown has several more nominations in addition to Chalamet’s, including Best Picture, Best Director (James Mangold), Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Edward Norton), Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Monica Barbaro), Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Costume Design, and Best Sound.
During his acceptance speech at the SAG Awards, Chalamet didn’t hide his dream of becoming a film legend. The 29-year-old actor told his SAG-AFTRA guild peers, “I was not expecting this at all, truly. I know the classiest thing would be to downplay the effort that went into this role and how much this means to me, but the truth is this was five and a half years of my life. I poured everything I had into playing this incomparable artist. Mr. Bob Dylan. A true American hero. It was the honor of a lifetime playing him.”
After thanking his mother and co-stars, Chalamet said, “Lastly, I can’t downplay the significance of this award because it means the most to me. I know we’re in a subjective business. The truth is, I’m really in pursuit of greatness. I know people don’t usually talk like that. But, I want to be one of the greats. I’m inspired by the greats. I’m inspired by the greats here tonight. I’m as inspired by Daniel Day Lewis, Marlon Brando and Viola Davis as I am by Michael Jordan and Michael Phelps. And I wanna be up there. I’m deeply grateful for that. This doesn’t signify that but it’s a little more fuel, a little more ammo to keep going.”
