Everything We Know So Far About Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Royal Wedding

In December, Kensington Palace announced the two are set to get married on May 19, 2018. It will start at 12 P.M. London time, 7 A.M. EST, and there will be a carriage procession and two receptions.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will get married at St. George's Chapel in Windsor Castle, which is located within the royal residence.

Back in November, a representative for the couple told Us Weekly that the wedding will be televised. The representative said, "The couple of course wants the day to be a special, celebratory moment for their friends and family. They also want the day to be shaped so as to allow members of the public to feel part of the celebrations too and are currently working through ideas for how this might be achieved."

Harry and Markle are also welcoming 2,650 members of the public into the grounds of Windsor Castle to watch the couple arrive to the chapel, as well as watch the carriage procession after the ceremony.

Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury, will be the one to officiate the wedding, and he's already a little bit nervous about the day. He told ITV News, "Unlike recent weddings, I must not drop the ring. I must not forget to get the vows in the right order as I did at the rehearsal for one of my children’s weddings." He's also been meeting with Harry and Markle ahead of the wedding and shared a little bit about their vows: "At the heart of it is two people who have fallen in love with each other, who are committing their lives to each other with the most beautiful words and profound thoughts, who do it in the presence of god through Jesus Christ," he said. "You pray for them to have the strength to fulfill their vows and you seek to do it in a way that respects their integrity and honors their commitment."

Bishop Michael Curry, head of the Episcopal Church, delivered a rousing sermon at the Royal Wedding. Curry began his speech by sharing Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s quote about the power of love, before he dove into his passionate speech.

Welby also presided over Markle's baptism, which he described as "very special" and "beautiful." Her baptism into the Church of England took place in early March in a secret ceremony. While it wasn't necessary for Markle to be baptized in order for her to marry Prince Harry, ITV reported that she did it out of respect for Queen Elizabeth II, who is the Head of the Church of England.

While there was a rumor that the royal wedding cake would be made with bananas, it's now been announced that Prince Harry and Markle will be having a lemon elderflower cake. Pastry chef Claire Ptak, who owns the London-based Violet Bakery, will create the cake, and it will be covered with buttercream and decorated with flowers.

Kensington Palace tweeted that Ptak focuses on using seasonal and organic ingredients, and Markle once interviewed Ptak for her former website, The Tig.

Ahead of the wedding Ptak Instagrammed a photo of six cases of lemons (that's a big cake) with the caption "And so it begins 🍋."

The couple will use florist Philippa Craddock, who’s based in London, to create the church flowers. Kensington Palace revealed the couple will have seasonal plants including branches of beech, birch and hornbeam, white garden roses, peonies and foxgloves. Just days before the big event, a delivery, which included a truck full of pink and white flowers, was spotted outside of Craddock's store.

In March, Kensington Palace revealed the royal invitations, which were made by Barnard and Westwood. The invites feature the three-feathered badge of the Prince of Wales printed in gold ink. The invites also include American ink and are printed in black and gold with gilding around the edge.

Kensington Palace announced on Twitter that the music for the ceremony will be under the direction of James Vivian (pictured here), the director of music at St. George’s Chapel. Music will also be provided by the Choir of St. George's Chapel, 19-year-old cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason, and Karen Gibson and the Kingdom Choir. The Palace tweeted that Harry and Meghan "have taken a great deal of interest and care in choosing the music for their Service, which will include a number of well-known hymns and choral works."

According to Town & Country, Kensington Palace released a statement which read, "As was the case with the wedding of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, The Royal Family will pay for the core aspects of the wedding, such as the church service, the associated music, flowers, decorations, and the reception afterwards." British wedding planner Aimee Dunne told CNN that the wedding could cost upwards of £500,000 (or $697,575).

It's tradition for Queen Elizabeth II to give the pair new titles. After their royal nuptials, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle became the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.. (Similarly, Prince William and Kate Middleton were given the titles of Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.)

It is also customary for the married couple to receive separate Scottish titles. People believe Harry and Markle will soon be the Earl and Countess of Ross.

Everyone got a first look at the beautiful ring when the engaged couple had their first photo call. Harry designed the ring, which has a center diamond from Botswana and two diamonds on each side. The diamonds on the side come from Princess Diana's personal collection.

According to royals reporter Omid Scobie, Markle already had fittings for her wedding dress and met with her best friend and stylist Jessica Mulroney to discuss dress options. Scobie tweeted, "Right now only a small, select group of people know the designer’s name, so don’t expect to find out any time soon. Even Harry made himself scarce during the first fitting!"

It was originally reported that British fashion house Erdem will possibly be designing Markle’s wedding dress, but on Meghan's special day, the newly-minted royal stepped out in a white Givenchy gown, paired with a veil that was over 16 feet long.

Back in 2016, Markle did an interview with Glamour where she revealed her idea of a perfect wedding dress: "I have the luxury of wearing beautiful pieces of clothing every day for work, so my personal style—wedding or not—is very pared down and relaxed. Classic and simple is the name of the game, perhaps with a modern twist. I personally prefer wedding dresses that are whimsical or subtly romantic. Delphine Manivet and Christos Costarellos are faves of mine for their uniqueness and beauty. And I will always be a fan of Ellie Saab. J. Mendel is spectacular as well, especially for more structural designs."

She also mentioned that her favorite celebrity wedding dress was Carolyn Bessette Kennedy's gown from 1996.

While Markle's future wedding dress is still a mystery, a photo of her very first wedding dress was leaked, giving some clue as to what she might prefer when it comes to gowns. The photo shows Markle in a strapless white dress with a sparkly band around her waist.

During the couple's first official visit to Cardiff, they were presented with a cheese(!) wedding cake made by the Snowdonia Cheese Company. While this isn't their official wedding cake, Markle reportedly thought the cake was "sweet" and "really delicious." So who knows? Maybe there will be a cheese cake after all.
