The Last of Us has been forever changed after that heartbreaking death in season 2, episode 2. Now, as the series continues into a new chapter, Bella Ramsey and Isabela Merced lead the cast as Ellie and Dina, two best friends who are figuring out what their relationship really means—while surviving the daily threats of a zombie apocalypse.
During a game of “Knowing Me, Knowing You” with ELLE UK, Ramsey and Merced took some time to reminisce on filming their first kiss in season 2, episode 1. While they did have an intimacy coordinator on set and worked with them on the scene, the actors shared that they didn’t really rehearse the kiss.
“We did it the first time on the first take. Rehearsing kisses is always so weird,” Ramsey said. “Yeah, it feels like spin the bottle,” Merced added.
“But that was a really beautiful scene, and it was so nice for people to be happy for 10 minutes in the world of The Last of Us,” Ramsey continued.
It wasn’t just a special moment on screen for fans; the co-stars also shared a lovely moment before the series aired.
“It was very magical filming it, and then when we had playback with a bunch of gay women it was so so sweet—everyone had tears in their eyes,” Merced said.
“It was really special,” Ramsey added.
