Following a completely infectious year of music in 2024, 2025 has something to prove. As we embark on our mid-twenties, so to speak, we have some questions that demand answers. Will there be another Brat-style summer? Which new artists will take over the charts? Will Taylor Swift drop her re-recordings of reputation and her self titled debut album? And who is destined for a grand comeback?

While it may take some time to fully understand the scope of the year, there are already some exciting projects out now and on the horizon. Bad Bunny kicked 2025 off with a strong new album, and Ethel Cain returned with an ambient project soon after. Meanwhile, FKA Twigs is set to come back with Eusexua, and Tate McRae’s third album is due in the late winter. Other heavy hitters will also be dropping music this year, like Lana del Rey, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, and more.

Below, we’ve rounded up the music projects we’re looking forward to in 2025.

A good omen for 2025, Bad Bunny kicked the year off with his new album DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS on January 5. Paying homage to Puerto Rican history and culture, the critically-acclaimed 17-song project features RaiNao, a rising Puerto Rican star to watch, and others, giving the Bad Bunny sign-off to a whole new batch of artists.

Perverts by Ethel Cain

Ethel Cain’s new LP Perverts is a distinct departure from Preacher’s Daughter, the album that put her on the map. That’s the point, too. Released on January 8, Cain’s ambient new record is at times terrifying, using white noise or silence at times to induce anxiety. It’s a haunted house-style project that works. The listener is always left guessing, making this experimental and out-of-the-box project an emotional and effective addition to Cain’s portfolio.

Released on January 17, it has features from SZA and Delusional Thomas.

Eusexua marks the return of FKA Twigs, who last released the mixtape Caprisongs in 2022. With her new project, Twigs leans techno, which is made clear on the beat-smashing “Drums of Death.” The album had a surprise feature from North West, daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. Twigs will tour the album this spring.

SALVATION by Rebecca Black

It seems as though the ultra-processed “Friday” days for Rebecca Black are long gone. Black, now a refined DJ and performer, is a contender for queen of the club. Her new album, SALVATION, looks to continue the star’s recent hyperpop and dance leanings, a sound that began a few years back. In 2021, she dropped a killer “Friday” remix with Dylan Brady of 100 gecs, and featuring 3OH!3, Big Freedia, and Dorian Electra. She’s only flown further into the neon lights since. So far, she’s released two tracks off her new project, “TRUST!” and “Sugar Water Cyanide,” both anthems for those who love to get lost in a crowd.

The screamo-pop track spelled good things for the singer, proving she knows what—and who—is hot right now.

Perhaps one of the most anticipated releases of the year, Lady Gaga returns to the dance floor with her new album, Mayhem. It’s been a minute since her last project; she released Chromatica in 2020 in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, and has since embarked on other endeavors, like starring in Joker: Folie à Deux and releasing a companion album, Harlequin, last year. Mother Monster began her Mayhem era with the single “Disease” and then nabbed a No. 1 for her hit with Bruno Mars for “Die with a Smile,” which is also on the album. Put your paws up: It's Gaga time.
