H&M is taking its fall/winter 2024 collection on a world tour, and the first stop was across the pond at London Fashion Week. Campaign star Lila Moss acted as the resident host for H&M&London, welcoming some the city’s biggest fans and brightest stars to an exclusive night of performances headlined by Charli xcx, who’s also featured as a model for the brand’s latest wares alongside Arca and Sage Elsesser.
The brat-centric event, which consisted of interactive venue installations, a special performance by the dancers in the campaign video, and an afterparty with DJ sets by Jamie xx and SHERELLE, was open to H&M customers through social media (and, it should be noted, rapidly sold out). Hometown heroes including Naomi Campbell, Iris and Rafferty Law, and Amelia Dimoldenberg attended alongside out-of-towners like Amelia Gray, who will soon be the city host for the next installment, H&M&NewYork.
A night of entertainment makes perfect sense considering that the retailer’s latest collection speaks to the spirit of fashion and music as strong outlets for self-expression. From high-shine minis and heavy hardware embellishments to bohemian chiffon maxis and delicate embroidered details, the assortment lends itself to mix-and-match styling for looks that can be totally your own. For Moss, this fall is all about “layering and playing with proportions,” she tells ELLE. “Short skirts with an oversized cozy knit, tights, and a great coat.”
Below, more from Moss about British style, fall fashion trends, and her favorite local spots.
What do you think sets British fashion apart from the rest of the world?
British fashion has such rich history behind it and there are so many subcultures that feed into that. For a small country, we have so many different influences and styles.
If you had to choose, who would be your style icon?
It has to be Jane Birkin. Every look she wore was so effortlessly cool.
Do you have a favorite piece from H&M’s fall collection?
The embellished mules are a great way to add some fun to any look.
What is one do and one don’t for dressing like a Londoner?
Do wear layers…our weather changes all the time. Don’t overthink it.
Where are some of your favorite local spots?
Portobello is always the best place for vintage finds. I could spend hours there with my friends looking around.
