Versace's Joyride Through Chaos and Rebirth

Versace has always meant capital "e" Extra, and this season—21-years after the tragic passing of the house's founder Gianni Versace—we've entered into all-caps. For spring, Donatella has swapped out all leopard everything and all that gold insignia for florals. And for stripes. And for plaid. And for solids. And for pleather. And for Plexi. Still though, the silhouettes remain imminently wearable (see: excellent pencil skirts, near-perfect blazers, and nearly a dozen flirty, flouncy cocktail dresses) as the palette and prints sound-off in a kind of ordered cacophony. The updated visual rainbow seems decidedly more modern, more Binx and Bella, less Cindy and Claudia, who closed last season's show. At Versace, one always finds themselves on a satisfyingly familiar journey: a joyride from quizzical to covetous, an homage to chaos and rebirth.
