Much like the way our clothes are moving away from the quick fashion impulses of the past and into pieces we treasure forever, a similar shift is happening in the realm of luxury beauty, with designers turning once single-use products into prized, everlasting possessions.
Take Bottega Veneta's new five-part perfume collection: curved at the edges, created from handblown glass, and sitting on a decadent base of marble; the flacons wouldn't look out of place adorned on the mantlepiece of some of the most stylish, interior-inclined creatives.

It's no surprise that the bottles have been crafted with the same design-led precision for which the Italian atelier is synonymous (see: Veneta's aesthetically pleasing array of candles and the cult Veneta Pouch), but they come with a unique perfume proposition too.
Putting art on a literal pedestal (the perfumes stand on a green Verde Saint Denis marble base) is one of many striking characteristics. Each bottle is also unique with air bubbles inspired by the waters of Venice’s Grand Canal and feature a sculptural wooden cap that nods to the architecture behind the Venetian palazzo.
Aesthetic aside, the notes, sillage and stories are equally distinctive. There's 'Acqua Sale', which calls to mind fresh sea water and conjures a fresh iteration of the beloved skin scent; 'Colpo di Sole' (meaning 'sunburn' in Italian) which captures the essence of the perfect summer's day on the beach (think: Lays crisps, Fanta limon and sandy, sunkissed skin) and hits you immediately with sparkly notes of orange blossom (it's a personal favourite of mine).
For something a little juicier, 'Come With Me' is bursting with citrus and bergamot and is the perfect pick-me-up if you're searching for an everyday scent you'll never tire of. More sultry and seductive are 'Déjà Minuit' and 'Alchemie'. The first fuses spicy cardamom and the latter black pepper and are the kind of head-turning scents destined for after dark dinners and wintry nights.
Rare is it to be captivated by every single scent in a perfume line-up, but two years in the making and marking the first foray under creative director Matthieu Blazy, this collection truly is a work of art.
