Update 30/5/22:

While we were busy catching up on 'Conversations With Friends', Chrissy Teigen had another instalment of her eyebrow transplant. The model and presenter posted a gorgeous unfiltered selfie on Instagram saying, 'blessing and a curse, this eyebrow procedure. 10/10 would do again lol'.

We suspect the blessing part comes from how good Teigen looks with her fresh arches. As for the curse...we think this treatment is probably not as breezy as penciling in your brows. But, from what we can see the results are pretty impressive. In the post, Teigen's brows look super long and full, a far cry from our sparse post-Noughties arches.

In the wacky world of celebrity tweakments and treatments, there isn't a lot that phases us. After all, we're the generation that's lived through everything from the super-inflated breast implants of the 2000s, to the Kardashian-approved vampire facials of the 2010s.

However, we'll admit we were pretty perplexed when the phrase 'eyebrow transplants' started doing the rounds in the ELLE office back in November.

No, this wasn't another a weird TikTok trend; rather, it was thanks to Chrissy Teigen, who had taken to her Instagram stories to share her post-surgery brows, that the conversation around the cosmetic procedure had kicked off.

As you might have guessed, this procedure isn't for the faint of heart. Similar to normal hair transplants, brow transplants take hair (usually from the scalp at the back of the head) and graft each one individually onto your eyebrows. Ouch?

This didn't seem to phase Teigen however, who wrote on her stories at the time, 'I never wear makeup if I can avoid it so I was so excited for this eyebrow transplant surgery.'

Since first posting about it, the mother of two has continued to be open and shared snippets of her brow-healing journey on Instagram. In a recent bare-faced video, Teigen showed how her new brows had filled in sans make-up, aptly captioning it 'welcome, new brow hairs!!!!'

While the downtime for eyebrow transplants is relatively short (the area is normally tender for a few days afterwards), the newly transplanted brows come into their full glory around the six month mark after they've had time to settle in.

For her eyebrows' most recent outing, the model shared a super glam video of her full, bushy brows paired with a smokey eye and nude lip, which caused quite a few followers to note comparisons between her and Khloe Kardashian.

Teigen isn't the first celebrity to have undergone the hair-raising procedure. A-List hair stylist Jen Atkin documented the eyebrow surgery transformation she underwent in February last year, explaining that she wanted to fill in some sparse areas of her brow. Seeing as the two are good pals, we wouldn't be surprised if her friend's new thick and natural-looking brows had influenced Teigen to try the same route.

With 'healthy brows' being one of the biggest predicted beauty trends for 2022, we can probably expect to see denser eyebrows a-plenty this year. But if transplants aren't your type, why not try microblading instead?
