Whether it's statement bangs a la Emily Ratajkowski or Nicola Peltz-Beckham's face-framing strands, fringes are back and better than ever.

'Ask your stylist for a wispy fringe that sits just below the eyebrow, with face framing layers,' says Darren Bain, creative director at Taylor Taylor London. 'The extra bit of length allows for movement and shrinkage of the hair, so that when you style it wet, the fringe will naturally lift when it’s dry to sit just above the eyebrow.'

It's a cut that will add softness to angular faces, while those with a heart shape bone structure can go a little longer along the sides to balance the face. It's an easy one to style too, lending that French girl vibe to summery chignons and while looking equally chic when worn with laid-back locks.

'When air drying, use your hands to arrange the fringe where you want it to sit for a really natural look,' explains Bain. 'You can use a texturising spray for added movement and texture, and if you have curly hair, a spritz of leave-in conditioner will help with frizz.'
