Stepping out at the Amsterdam premiere in London yesterday, Margot Robbie showcased new-season elegance with her black Celine cut-out gown and cape, complemented by a darker hair hue; a sun-kissed 'bronde'.

Much longer in length – as if she's been growing out her cut over recent summer months – Robbie's hair has evolved from the brighter blonde we're more familiar with (and certainly from that of her Barbie character we've all enjoyed sightings of). After a stint as a rich honey shade, it now appears to be a light brunette hue with warm, buttery blonde highlights.

No doubt achieved using the freehand colouring technique balayage – likely by her California-based colourist Justin Anderson – it's the perfect transitional look for anyone wanting an autumnal colour change, while still maintaining a nod to the warmer weather (as an Australian living in LA, Robbie basically owns beachy beauty).

When considering any colour change it's advisable to have a thorough consultation with a professional beforehand to identify what would work for you. As London's 'queen of blonde', colourist Nicola Clarke – who has also worked with Robbie – told Bazaar, 'letting your colourist know a little about your lifestyle (for example, how often you can visit the salon or how you style and wear your hair) will help to determine which shade would work for you.' In addition, she also considers her client's colourings; 'your eye colour and skin tone are all factors when deciding on hair colour, whether that be light or dark,' and if you're changing your cut, because 'you don’t want the stylist to cut out the new highlights or colour.'

Or perhaps Robbie might inspire you to embrace your natural colour this season. As famed colourist Josh Wood previously told Bazaar, a more natural approach to hair that is usually lightened can actually be very flattering. 'Mousy, untouched shades look very youthful,' he says.

Perhaps elevated mousey, a la Robbie, will be the coolest counter trend to Barbie blonde this autumn/winter. Count us in.
