Can you feel that? The sudden warmth on your skin. The clear blue skies. And - finally - the promise of lighter days after months of hibernation. Yes, we are officially out of the throes of winter and with the first day of spring comes the hope of a seasonal shake-up – a fresh sartorial uniform and eschewing the heavy layers and Penny Lane coats that dominated last season; ridding our skin of rich creams for dewy alternatives, and perhaps, even shedding extra-long hair for a shorter hairstyle.

The lifted bob
Think of it as a 'chunky line bob with texture,' shares Hershesons hairstylist, Caspar Finch. The middle ground between a blunt bob cut and razored edge, the lifted bob is all about soft texture. 'It has less weight at the bottom and therefore gives the illusion of being lifted,' Finch adds.
'To create the lifted bob, your hairdresser will cut a crinkled line with scissors,' he explains. 'This helps enhance the natural texture of your hair and ensures you don’t get any scissor marks or harsh lines,' he adds. As for modern muses, look to Saoirse Ronan – her bob is the epitome of this lifted, softer finish. 'It's less polished and more undone,' he notes.
Baby bangs bob
Proof that our fascination with bangs is going nowhere this season, baby bangs are the latest trend to accompany a strong short crop. 'Adding lighter-toned highlights around the bangs helps build brightness around the face and accentuate the look,' shares Hershesons hairstylist, John Alfred.
'A hairstylist can do this freehand around the hairline,' he shares. 'This will add overall dimension around the face and bring out the tone of your skin and eyes.'
The razored bob
'The razored bob is certainly becoming more popular in salons right now,' shares Finch, noting how it taps into the growing demand for low-maintenance hairstyles. 'The less styling, the cooler it looks.'
The point of difference with this hairstyle lies in the cutting technique. 'You don't use scissors and instead only employ a razor to create the look,' he shares. 'If you have curly or coily hair, use a product that adds moisture, such as the Kerastase Curl Manifesto range, or for anyone with poker-straight ends, simply spritz an air dry spray and let your hair dry naturally.'
The bronde bob
It was dubbed 'dishwater blonde' not too long ago on TikTok, but this season's take on 'bronde' hair - effectively a middle point between blonde and brown - is brighter, richer and more light-reflecting. 'Everyone’s going darker,' says Alfred, who notes that his clients are moving away from honey and ash blondes and towards the slightly stronger biscuit and caramel tones (see Lily Rose-Depp, Hailey Bieber and Taylor Swift for inspiration)
Adding highlights and lowlights will add more dimension and accentuate your features but Alfred recommends 'freehand lowlights or reverse balayage' to create the perfect melange of golden caramel tones and natural chestnut.
