If, like us, you find yourself much more invested in scanning red carpets for the gowns and one-off beauty looks than the actual show itself, then the onset of awards season feels like a never-ending Christmas morning.

Where the Met Gala calls for experimentation and elaborate appearances, the Oscars always leans more into old school Hollywood glamour. Whether it's the West coast location or the connotations of that coveted, auric statue, the A-List crowd never fail to capture opulence on the Oscars red carpet.

Of course, each celebrity influences their look with their own personal style, and if there's one actress on which we can always depend to deliver a look that's quintessentially their own, it's Kristen Stewart. This time at the Oscars 2022 was no different, with Stewart putting her own alternative twist on the glam

The overall beauty look had obvious influence from one of the Nineties most infamous beauty looks, capturing a glam-grunge essence that the 31-year-old actress has down to a fine art. After all, who else but K-Stew could pull off a Chanel shorts suit with an undone, slightly-gritty beauty look so effortlessly?

Stewart wore her bleached blonde hair with loose waves swept over in a dramatic side-parting, courtesy of Virtue Creative Director and Hollywood hairstylist Adir Abergel. 'I wanted to highlight the essence of Kristen with a relaxed, effortless style that had great structure,' Abergel explained. 'The look was inspired by her natural texture and the undone vibes of some of my favourite celebrity styles from the Nineties.'

To get the look, Abergel applied Virtue's Volumising Primer to Stewart's wet hair, focusing in on the roots, and then followed with Virtue's 6-in-1 Styling Paste and Healing Oil, running this through from her mids to ends.

To bring out any wavy texture that Stewart had in her natural hair, Abergel got Stewart to flip her hair upside down and dried it with Dyson's Supersonic Hair Dryer and diffuser attachment. Instead of using a curling iron to create those lived-in waves, he opted for the Dyson Corralle straightener, sectioning off small pieces of hair and waving them to create that effortless, just-woke-up-like-this effect.

To really amp up the undone vibe of the hair, Abergel worked a cocktail of Virtue's Healing Oil and Virtue 6-in-1 Styling Paste to define each wave, finishing off with a hairspray to lock in the shape while still allowing for movement.

The make-up followed in suit (pun very much intended) with the rest of the outfit, mirroring the Chanel shorts-and-blazer combo with Chanel beauty products (After all, if you're wearing Chanel, you might as well really wear it).

Stewart's long time make-up artist Jillian Dempsey also channelled Nineties grunge, using Chanel's Les 4 Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow in Blurry Grey and Candeur et Provocation with the Stylo Yeux Eyeliner Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Ébène to achieve a defined black smokey eye, before coating the lashes with Chanel's Inimitable Mascara in Noir Black.

The rest of the make-up was pulled back so as not to detract from the statement eye, opting for a light wash of blush on the cheeks with Chanel's Joues Contraste Powder Blush in Ombre. Dempsey sealed the look with a classic nineties staple, the nude lip, using Chanel's Rouge Allure L’Extrait Lipstick in 812 and Le Crayon Lèvres Longwear Lip Pencil in Nude Brun.

Safe to say, we've got this look bookmarked, prepped and ready to go for our next night out.
