From the overt 'burnt blush' trend doing the rounds on TikTok to the ‘skin streaming’ phenomenon helping maximise your glow, and not forgetting the slew of glass skin textures taking the internet by storm, it seems we’re all in the mood to experiment with our make-up bags and skincare once again.

A sprinkling of sunshine and the spring equinox will do that, but aside from the promise of brighter days ahead, the change of seasons is also an important time for a few seasonal beauty swaps – now is when to put down the heavy foundation and intricate eyeliner and go for playful pops of colour, eschew matte palettes for dewy bronzing drops and cream blush, and streamline your skincare to focus on cellular hydration and skin barrier protection.

As opposed to a complete overhaul, a few simple swaps and steps will ensure your skin is primed and ready for spring and your make-up bag brimming with all the dewiest, brightest textures. Here, make-up artist and brand founder, Gucci Westman, shares five simple steps to help shake up your make-up bag for spring...

Embrace pops of colour

'Keeping the face as radiant and luminous as possible and being playful with a pop of colour on the lips are key steps for spring. I also love a youthful, glow-y, and sun-kissed look as we transition into the new season. Everyone is also super excited to get colour on their skin for spring, so I would advise starting with a lighter foundation coverage then adding pops of colour on the cheeks and lips.'

Less coverage; more glow

'Foundation covers the largest portion of your face, so avoiding anything super heavy - including heavy lipsticks and eyebrows - is key to keeping things youthful and fresh. To enhance the skin's glow, I would use the Liquid Super Loaded Tinted Highlight under the Baby Cheeks Blush; it gives you this gorgeous radiance and won’t make your blush application streaky.'

Protect the skin

'Protecting the skin is such a high priority of mine so, alongside the necessary high-factor SPF protection, I love using our Beauty Butter Bronzer Powder and bronzing drops to give that bronzed effect and add additional luminosity.'

Hydrate and exfoliate

'Everyone’s skin reacts differently to the changing of seasons but mine tends to run more dry so I have to adapt my routine to keep it balanced, happy, and harmonious. I personally really like using a nourishing formula at night when I go to bed no matter the season. A focus on exfoliation and at-home facials are always great steps for spring too. I recently tried dermaplaning and it made my skin so soft, I loved it! It’s like you’re shedding your winter skin and ready for a fresh start for spring.'

Amplify with bronzing drops

'Sun-kissed, glowing skin has always been a signature look of mine. The new Sun Tone drops make it so easy to achieve – the fluid formula is blendable and layers effortlessly over make-up with a shimmer-free finish that’s never streaky or tacky. I personally like to add them on top of foundation and then complement the look with cream blusher and a soft lip to add definition.'
