Kim Kardashian has opened up about an argument she had with her husband, Kanye West, who she's currently in the process of divorcing (despite him making some very public declarations of love recently, in the hopes of winning her back).

Specifically, the mother-of-four reflected on one of the rapper's more controversial moments: when he wore a red 'Make America Great Again' (MAGA) hat, in support of ex-President Donald Trump, during an appearance on SNL.

Obviously we all know Trump is one of the, er, most divisive politicians there's ever been... and West choosing to pledge his allegiance so publicly caused quite the kerfuffle at the time.

Now, during a chat with journalist Bari Weiss (for her Substack newsletter and podcast, Honestly), Kardashian revealed that she was 'very nervous' about her ex doing so beforehand and admits that she 'didn't want him to'.

'I remember other people were around and it became a thing where he wasn’t going to go on because he wanted to be who he is,' Kardashian admitted in the interview. 'I’m very neutral, but that night I was very forceful with him, and argued with him like, "You have to take that hat off"... and now looking back, I think, why should he take that off if that’s what he believes in?'

She added, 'Why can’t he wear that on TV? Half of the country voted for him, so clearly other people like him.'

West also recently addressed the red hat controversy during a video posted to his Instagram for Thanksgiving (called 'Thanksgiving Prayer') and said, amongst other things, that 'his wife' really objected to his choice of headgear.

'Good lord, my wife did not like me wearing the red hat,' he said during the post, in which he also discussed ego, alcohol, money and religion. 'Being a good wife, she just wanted to protect me and our family. I made me and our family a target by not aligning with Hollywood’s political stance and that was hard for our marriage.'

He also commented on his own bid to run for president 'without proper preparation and no allies on either side' and hinted that he regrets the press conference he gave in which he 'presented information about our family'.

However, it sounds like Kardashian is pretty chill about the whole thing now, adding during her chat with Weiss that the experience taught her a lot. 'No matter what, it taught me to be a little bit more empathetic for people that just want to do what they want to do: freedom of speech... And if you want to wear the hat, wear the hat.'
