Loewe has a new creative director. Or make that two new creative directors. The brand has announced Proenza Schouler founders Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez are taking over the creative reins.
The news confirms speculation that the duo were set to succeed Jonathan Anderson, who exited Loewe last week after a transformational 11 years at the house. McCollough and Hernandez, who exited Proenza Schouler back in January, will start at Loewe next month.

'We are incredibly honoured to join Loewe, a house whose values and mission align closely with our own,' the duo said in a statement. 'We look forward to working alongside its extraordinary teams and artisans, whose talent—under the exceptional creative direction of Jonathan Anderson—has shaped LOEWE into the cultural force it is today.'
McCollough and Hernandez met while studying at New York's Parsons the New School of Design, going on to launch their own label shortly after graduating in 2002. Proenza Schouler quickly became New York Fashion Week highlight, the launch of their hit PS-1 satchel in 2008 marking a significant milestone for the brand. McCollough and Hernandez went on to win five CFDA Awards, including Accessory Designer of the Year and Womenswear Designer of the Year.
‘Their vision and creativity are a perfect match for the codes of the house that we have built,’ Loewe CEO Pascale Lepoivre said in a statement. ‘I am excited to see them shape its future.’
‘I have long admired Jack and Lazaro’s work at Proenza Schouler, their eclectic creativity and dedication to craft make them a natural choice to build the next chapter for Loewe,' said the brand's chairman Sidney Toledano. 'I look forward to seeing them lead the evolution of the House.’
