Dakota Johnson, Kim Kardashian, Kendall Jenner and more are giving us a lesson in how to wear winter whites this season. And our wardrobes have never been more grateful.

If like us you thought white was best reserved for days spent lounging on the coastline of the Amalfi Coast or paired with a chilled glass of Sauvignon Blanc in St Tropez, then it looks like it’s time to reconsider packing away the summer wardrobe until next year. If anything, white is making a comeback for AW24 when paired with black accessories or bought in textured fabrics like wool, faux fur and silk.

After Jenner was spotted at the US Open over the weekend in a white corduroy set, featuring capped sleeves and shoulder pads and a rounded asymmetrical collar, paired with black accessories, her older sister Kardashian proved that white is just as good as black when it comes to formal attire for star-studded events.

On Monday, the entrepreneur attended the Kering Foundation’s Caring for Women Event during New York Fashion Week wearing a white latex mini dress, featuring intentional wrinkles that gave it the appearance of liquid.

Meanwhile, Johnson – who was seen cosying up for photos with the beauty mogul on the night – similar wore a 'Daz white' ensemble, consisting of a see-through, crystal-covered top.

White has proved a failsafe favourite for celebrities in recent days during NYFW, too.

For the Alaïa show last week, held in the rotunda of the Solomon R. Guggenheim museum on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, Rihanna was seen arriving fashionably late wearing a custom crystal creation from the brand, styled with a sparkling shawl close to her corseted torso.

Earlier this year, the presence of the white trend was overwhelming on the SS24 runways, with brands like Valentino, Victoria Beckham and Chloé championing the hue. However, for this season, designers like Willy Chavarria and Ralph Lauren proved that white isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, whether it’s with the former’s athletic shorts and armbands emblazoned with ‘América’, or the latter’s modern take on northeast coastal codes.

'White has been enjoying its moment in the fashion limelight all year, and will still be a strong style move come autumn,' explains Site Fashion Editor Clementina Jackson.

'Not only does the shade beautifully set off any last remnants of a summer tan, but it can also provide a much-needed element of brightness as the days become increasingly dreary. Dip your toe into the trend by way of a white handbag or sunglasses, go classic by making a crisp white shirt your seasonal signature, or take a leaf out of Prada's AW24 show and invest in white coats, skirts, shoes, shift dresses and everything in between. I'll be channeling a Hamptons chic look by way of white jeans, an oversized shirt and a camel cashmere jumper draped over my shoulders.'
