Truly great high-street pieces might be few and far between, but this autumn we’ve already been graced with one that even the A-list deem good enough to add to their collection.

The piece in question? Dune’s XL Deliberate bag, which has proved so popular since launch, it has already sold out twice.

In fact, so good is this roomy, stuff-everything-in shopper, even Katie Holmes has been seen with one, carrying her brown iteration on the streets of New York this week (the bag is also available in black). Demonstrating her ability to make even the most basic of pieces look subtly chic, Holmes styled the bag with an untucked shirt, chubby knitted cardigan and a pair of pale-wash, loose-legged jeans.

Now of course, a lot of the appeal of this affordable bag can be attributed to its size: big enough to hold a laptop, gym kit and comically sized water bottle, it will see you through those manic days with ease, with the thick strap ensuring comfort while you lug your life around. Inside, you’ll find two securely attached zip-up pockets for keeping your keys and credit cards to hand, as well as a top popper fastening for quick access to the interior.

Of course, it also looks the part: the slouchy, hand-woven exterior nods to the AW24 runways, which were awash with supple, super-sized designs. On the streets too, we’re seeing a major resurgence in XXL totes: in recent weeks, Bella Hadid has been carrying Coach’s Brooklyn bag around in more than one colourway, while Jenna Ortega prefers the new Tod’s Di Swing.

But if you’re looking for a super-sized carry-all that isn’t too precious to take on your commute, stuff in a spinning-class locker or take on the weekend grocery shop, perhaps the XL Deliberate is the one. Whether worn with jeans or carried alongside working-week tailoring, this one’s a modestly priced hero that happens to look pretty good, too.
