Since 1932, stars have flocked to Venice to celebrate the very best of new cinema, while also making the most of the opportunity to flaunt a little dolce vita fashion all the while.

If Cannes is synonymous with Cote d'Azure glamour, then Venice offers a more cerebral, directional approach befitting its Italian location. It's here that the country's fashion behemoths - Prada, Gucci, Armani - offer up their most exuberant red-carpet creations for the world's biggest movie stars. Venice fashion often feels more catwalk adjacent than other film festivals.

This year has gotten off to a stylish start. Cate Blanchett, fast becoming known for her regular rewearing of red-carpet looks, chose an Armani Privé gown first worn in 2022 for the premiere of La Grazia. Emma Stone went for all-black in a lace Louis Vuitton dress for a Thursday afternoon photo call for Yorgos Lanthimos' latest, Bugonia.
