From the SS25 catwalks (we're looking at you, Versace) to the references informing what we're shopping vintage, dressing like a rom-com heroine from our favourite late nineties or early noughties movies is fast becoming a summer style priority. It's the new season 'main character energy' approach, where date-night slips, stiletto sandals and lace trim vests become essential to the wardrobe. Heartthrob on the arm? We'll have to wait to the end of the film like all those that came before us...

Rom-com dressing is the inspiration that informs the Internet's BFF Devon Lee Carlson's new collection with Reformation that is released today. The LA native, who has long proven a willing source of style inspiration on social media, has collaborated with the LA brand to bring her current preferences and long-loved favourites into easy fruition with a capsule collection. It's a true meeting of minds that offers up the opportunity to shop Reformation's cult pieces, now given an even more desirable slant thanks to Carlson's keen eye.

'It's feminine, romantic and flirty,' tells Carlson. 'I’m really into emphasising my feminine side and wanted to show that off throughout the collection by making it super romantic and girly. It's designed to feel like you're dressing up like your favourite character in a rom com.'
Reformation has always been transparent about its vintage inspirations and steps towards being an environmentally responsible brand, values which also prove important for Carlson: 'I love shopping vintage from a values and uniqueness standpoint. That’s what I like about Reformation too, the limited edition nature of their clothing makes it feel really special.'
'From a design standpoint, we reimagined a lot of vintage pieces from my personal closet, particularly the ones my friends ask to borrow the most. I wanted to recreate that shared closet for the rest of the world.'
What'll prove most fun for those in search of some rom-com nostalgia is the names that Carlson has given each piece. 'They are all named after a real or fictional woman who has inspired me throughout my life. The Lizzie tee is for Lizzie from Lizzie McGuire, the Cher mini dress is for Cher from Clueless, and so on. I'll let you figure out the rest!' Her favourite pieces include the Kenny low-rise jeans. An ode to Kendall Jenner, perhaps? 'If I would have seen those heart pockets on a pair of jeans growing up I wouldn’t have been okay living without them,' she says. 'And the Pam pump is the perfect ladylike shoe.'
For those truly looking to step into their rom-com era this summer, then the floor-length Britney dress might just be the golden ticket item. Who can't see that it's a special nod to Kate Hudson's dress in How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days?
