Emily Blunt has blown our collective minds by revealing that Meryl Streep did not base her The Devil Wears Prada character on Anna Wintour, as many rumours had suggested.

Miranda Priestly, one of Streep's most iconic roles to date, is commonly believed to be based on the American Vogue editor, and whilst the book's character may well be inspired by her, Streep actually took inspiration from others in her portrayal.

'Although Meryl didn’t actually base it on Anna Wintour—well, she told Anna that. She based it on two men in Hollywood that she knew—who will remain nameless, but I know who they are.'

Blunt has worked with Streep three times now, firstly on The Devil Wears Prada, secondly on Into The Woods and most recently in Mary Poppins Returns as distant cousins.

During the Brit's interview with ELLE UK, Blunt explained how nervous she was first meeting the iconic actress:

'I was terrified. Terrified. I was terrified in general, it was like my first big film. I didn’t know what this ‘table read’ business was, so we sat down and had a table read and I remember shaking, coming up to my first line and she was very kind and she laughed on my first line, she just went ‘mmhm’, like that, and I was like "thank you Meryl!"'

Too cute.
