British royalty and pop royalty collided on Sunday when Meghan Markle and Beyoncé hugged and had a long chat at the Lion King European premiere.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who wore a black Jason Wu dress with sheer sleeves, attended the premiere to mark Harry's charitable involvement in protecting African parks and animals, including lions.

The royal couple arrived, greeted waiting fans in Leicester Square and then met the film's cast, who were lined up waiting to speak with royalty ahead of watching the film.

The moment everyone was waiting for in the line-up was an exchange between Markle and Beyoncé - who voices Nala in the film.

The pair were like old friends when they did eventually meet, hugging each other for a while before Harry joined for a four-way chat between the two high-profile couples.

According to eagle-eyed reporters and viewers, what they covered in their conversation ranged from babies and children to their mutual respect and admiration for one another.

According to the Daily Mail's royal reporter Rebecca English, Beyoncé told the Sussexes that their baby, Archie, is 'so beautiful,' before Harry - who clearly keeps up with pop culture news, judging from this exchange - asked the Carters how their twins (Rumi and Sir) were doing.

Beyoncé told the Prince that they'd been left at home for this trip, but they would have 'loved' to have been there.

Jay-Z then dished out some advice for the new parents.

'The best advice I can give you, always find time for yourself,' he told them.

It's a rare sight, to see Beyoncé and Jay-Z slightly in awe of meeting other people, given their high profile, but the couple did look thrilled to meet Meghan and Harry and Beyoncé was even seen telling them: 'We love you guys'.

On social media, others were sure they could see Bey calling the Duchess: 'My Princess'.

We can't get enough of this interaction!
