Happy birthday, Meghan Markle - who turns 38 years old today!

'Happy birthday to my amazing wife. Thank you for joining me on this adventure! Love, H'.

The comments section of the post were soon inundated with well-wishes, including from Markle's best friend, Jessica Mulroney who wrote: 'Happy birthday beautiful' and the mental health campaigner Matt Haig, who asked for Markle to 'keep up the truly inspiring work'.

True to Prince Harry's comment about it being an adventure, it has been an extremely eventful past year for Markle. She's become a fully fledged working member of the royal family, travelled extensively and welcomed her first child, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.

Archie was born on May 6 in London and then presented to the world via a photocall in Windsor castle a few days later.

He was christened just over two months later in a private ceremony in Windsor, attended by godparents - whose names have not been revealed - Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Meghan's mother Doria Ragland and Princess Diana's two sisters Lady Jane Fellowes and Lady Sarah McCorqoudale.

Work wise, she's toured Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga with Prince Harry, launched a capsule workwear collection with the charity Smart Works - which she is a patron of - and made visits to sex worker support centres, universities to give panel talks and animal rescue facilities.
