Thought you were up to date with the Selena Gomez, Hailey Bieber and Justin Bieber saga? Well think again.

Hours after Gomez released new song 'Lose You To Love Me', the singer took to her Instagram to seemingly defend her ex-boyfriend Justin's new wife Hailey in an emotional, but not person-specific, plea.

During an Instagram Live, the 27-year-old gave her fans a stern word regarding trolling, obliquely referencing 'tearing women down'.

'I am so grateful for the response this song is getting. However, I do not stand for women tearing women down. And I will never, ever be by that,' the 'Can't Keep My Hands To Myself' singer explained, 'So please be kind to everyone. It doesn’t matter what the situation is, if you’re my fans don’t be rude to anyone, please.'

'Don’t go off and say things that you just feel in the moment. Just please, for me, know that that’s not my heart and my heart is only to release things I feel that are me and that I’m proud of. And that’s all that I’ll say.'

Find this a bit cryptic? Well, this statement comes hours after fans attempted to pit the two young women – Selena and Hailey that is – against each other following Gomez's release of her new song 'Lost You To Love Me'.

Fans think some of Texan's new lyrics refer to Justin and Selena's brief reconciliation last summer, before they split and he eventually wed Hailey. Specifically, 'I gave my all and they know it. You tore me down and now it's showing. In two months, you replaced us. Like it was easy. Made me think I deserved it. In the thick of healing.'

Whether this is true or not, Selena has made one thing clear: leave Hailey alone.
