Beyoncé has made history.

On Sunday, the 39-year-old singer broke the record (which was previously held by country singer Alison Krauss) for the most Grammy awards ever to be won by a female artist, at the 2021 ceremony.

The Houston-born singer now has 28 Grammys to her name, after winning four awards at last night's ceremony, including best Rap performance and Rap song for 'Savage' with Megan Thee Stallion, best music video for 'Brown Skin Girl', which she shared with her daughter Blue Ivy and best pop performance for her 2020 Black Lives Matter anthem, 'Black Parade'.

When the presenters announced Beyoncé as the recipient of the latter award - and confirmed she had made history in the process - the star was seen putting her hands to her mouth in shock, while her husband Jay-Z stood up to applaud his wife and give her a hug as she looked tearful.

Taking to the stage, Beyoncé - who is also the most nominated female artist in Grammys history after accumulating 62 over the years - wearing a custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture gown, delivered a rousing speech commenting on intertwining her activism in her music and paying tribute to her family.

'Thank you guys so much. Oh my god. I am so honoured. I am so excited. Thank you guys,' Beyoncé began.

'As an artist, I believe it's my job and all of our jobs to reflect the times. It has been such a difficult time so I wanted to uplift, encourage, and celebrate all of the beautiful Black queens and kings that continue to inspire me and inspire the whole world. This is so overwhelming. I've been working for my whole life, since nine-years-old, and I can’t believe this happened.'

Beyoncé then paid tribute to her family - acknowledging her eldest daughter's Grammy win earlier in the evening: 'This is such a magical night. Thank you so much. I know my daughter is watching, two daughters and my son, y’all are all watching. Congratulations Blue. She won a Grammy tonight. I'm so proud of you, and I'm so honoured to be your mummy, all of your mummy's. Y’all are my babies. And I'm so proud of y’all.'

Motioning to Jay-Z in the crowd, Beyoncé then finished her speech by saying: 'I love you so much, my rock.... Enjoy your night, thank you.'

Following the ceremony, Beyoncé and Jay-Z celebrated in style and were seen heading to a small after party with her longtime friend and Destiny's Child bandmate Kelly Rowland. Beyoncé had an outfit change for the after party too, wearing a stunning silver mesh embroidered gown with a crystal chain cage corset, platform leather heels, silver nailhead mesh head wrap and veil, custom made by Burberry's Chief Creative Officer Riccardo Tisci.

Congratulations, to the Queen Bey.
