From the day they announced their engagement, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have insisted that they would keep the late Princess Diana’s memory alive as much as possible on their wedding day. And, of course, the newlyweds did not disappoint.

From the selection of flowers in Meghan’s bouquet and the forget-me-nots in the bridesmaids' crowns, to the involvement of Diana’s siblings at the nuptials, the Duke of Sussex’s mother was present - if only in spirit - on the couple’s big day.

However, Harry and Meghan were also keen to honour the late Princess in their official wedding photos.

Yesterday afternoon, Kensington Place released the couple’s wedding snaps, featuring their family members, including Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, Prince William, Kate Middleton and the bride’s mother, Doria Ragland.

But, there was also a special detail in ode to Diana that may have gone unnoticed.

In a second photo released by the palace, Harry and Meghan are surrounded by their page boys and bridesmaids, including an adorable Princess Charlotte and cheeky chappy, Prince George.

Meghan can be seen sitting on the floor of the Green Drawing Room at Windsor Castle, while Harry sits on an emerald green couch - a piece of furniture he once sat on in another photograph marking an important milestone in his royal life.

The couch was the same one on which his late mother was photographed sitting on while holding him at his christening in 1984.

In the snap, Diana sat beside the Queen while Prince Charles rested on the couch’s arm beside her. In the middle of the photo stands a young Prince William in a white polo shirt and baby blue shorts, smiling into the distance, much to the glee of his family.

We couldn’t love this subtle nod to Diana more.
