It's widely debated whether maturity comes with age or experience.

But for international supermodel Kate Moss, she credits both for helping her develop a healthy outlook on life and beauty she lacked in the early days of her modelling career.

'I've learned to take care of myself a bit more,' the 44-year-old reveals in the latest edition of Harper's Bazaar. 'I do yoga every day. I don’t go out nearly as much. And I take care of my skin, which somehow has held up.'

The Croydon-born star, who was 'discovered' at the age of 14, says she's finally put an end to her hedonistic party days of her youth, but credits her care-free personality and strong work ethic for her success and humility.

I do yoga every day. I don’t go out nearly as much.

'The bad things I have done usually take their toll, and I’ve been quite lucky in that respect, but you have to put in the work.'

The model, who recently retracted her controversially bold statement that 'nothing tastes as good as skinny feels', also says she has no desire to be obsessed with her looks.

'Don’t get me wrong, I love beauty products more than ever—as you get older, you have more to hide—but I’m not obsessed.

'Even when I’m going out, I still find it hard to wear false eyelashes and stuff. Sometimes [makeup artist] Pat McGrath will be like, "Come on, darling, let’s put a lash on you," but I would never put one on myself.'

Discussing the media's obsession with her ageing, Moss recounts a rather uncomfortable moment as a teenager on set with photographer Mario Testino.

'He’d hold his glasses up to my face like they were a magnifying glass, and I’d start shaking my head so he couldn’t focus,' she recalls of Testino's scrutiny of her imperfections.

'Luckily I had a good head on my shoulders, but can you imagine?'

Despite developing a stellar modelling career and standing shoulder-to-shoulder with fellow models and friends Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista and Christy Turlington over the yers, Moss admits learned early on to not compare herself to her peers.

As you get older, you have more to hide — but I’m not obsessed

'I never could compare myself to those girls,' she explained. 'I wasn’t five foot eleven, I wasn’t built like they were. I was always different, and that’s why I got booked.

'For Lila [her 16-year-old daughter] and her friends, it’s hard because it’s all there on the phone, the Kardashian factor, it’s in their face much more than it was for us.'

'It’s instant inspiration but also instant judgment,' she added. 'But she has seen me, and I’m not obsessed with myself, so hopefully that will rub off.'

Moss' teenage daughter landed her first modelling gig at the age of 14, and last month was announced as the new face of Marc Jacobs' beauty campaign.
