As Meghan Markle and Prince Harry set off on their royal tour of South Africa today (Monday 23rd September), all eyes are going to be on the Duchess’s fashion choices.

And if the 'Meghan Markle Effect' is anything to go by, for some lucky brands this could mean instant sell-outs and skyrocketing searches.

When the 38-year-old wore a pair of Veja V-10 trainers on the royal tour to Australia in October 2018, searches for the eco-friendly shoe shot up 113% and made Lyst’s ‘Hottest Products’ list alongside Gucci’s logo belt and Balenciaga’s Speed sneakers.

Now, the French footwear label has launched its first ever sustainable running shoe - The Condor - and we’re naturally all wondering whether Meghan has a pair.

The environmentally-friendly trainer is the ‘1st post-petroleum running shoe’ and is made from 53% recycled materials.

The design, which has been four years in the making, has an upper that is made entirely from recycled plastic bottles, while the midsole is made out of sugar cane, rice waste and banana oil.

What’s more the trainers, which come in six different colourways and cost £120, are made in a factory in Brazil that respects workers’ rights and the company maintains complete transparency around its manufacturing process.

The shoe’s eco-friendly design is sure to appeal to the Duchess who famously wore Stella McCartney to her wedding reception as she stepped into an electric-powered Jaguar with her new husband.
