As the coronavirus pandemic continues to spread across the world, we’re slowly but surely adapting to a new way of life, social distancing and working from home.

For some, this #stayhome era has spawned new passions, from a newfound love of Netflix docu-series and making puzzles, to working out in the living room with fitness apps.

For others, it’s involved mastering the ever tricky video conferencing with colleagues, attempting to figure out gallery view and audio on Zoom and mastering to look professional ‘up top’ while still wearing patterned pyjamas bottoms and yesterday’s underwear ‘down low’.

Unfortunately, video conferencing from the sofa has also welcomed a whole host of new working woes: significant others walking the camera in a bath towel, wrestling matches with pet cats that decide to jump on laptop keyboards, failed attempts to keep a neutral face while listening to a colleague discuss spreadsheets.

If there’s any solace in all of this is that we’re all in the same boat and struggling with video conferencing calls together.

According to the UK government, the public should work from home where possible.

‘Employers and employees should discuss their working arrangements, and employers should take every possible step to facilitate their employees working from home, including providing suitable IT and equipment to enable remote working,’ it explains its website.
