A royal photographer has revealed which royal wedding photo Kate Middleton adores and it's quite surprising.

On April 29, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge celebrated nine years of marriage after they tied the knot at Westminster Abbey in 2011.

On the anniversary, photographer Samir Hussein spoke about working on the couple’s big day and shed light on which of his photos Kate loves.

And no, it's not the one of her and William on the Buckingham Palace balcony, nor the one of them leaving the Abbey after their vows as you might have expected.

‘It just came about really quickly,’ he recalled in an interview with US Weekly, referring to snap taken of the bride and her father Michael seconds after the image below was captured.

‘I think there was some quite big crowds outside, outside the abbey. A lot of people being camping out for days and days. And I think she just wanted to acknowledge the crowds, but also with it being such an enormous event, the cameras and stuff.’

Hussein continued, explaining that the photo depicts the Duchess ‘acknowledging all of those around her’.

‘It was really nice when she turned straight in my direction and waved sort of straight down the barrel of my lens, and I gave a big smile,’ he added.

‘I’ve been told that that’s one of her favourites. It was actually used by the Royal collection when the dress went on display at Buckingham palace for all our advertising … That picture was on the Underground, on big posters and billboards all around London. I think she had a big hand [in that].’

On their ninth wedding anniversary, the couple’s official Instagram account Kensington Royal shared a different photo of the newlyweds on their big day, exiting the service to greet their fans.

‘Nine years ago today – thank you for all your lovely messages on The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding anniversary!’ the post’s captioned reads.

Princess Eugenie, who married in October 2018, commented on the snap with a love heart eye emoji.

In the years since their marriage, Kate and William have become parents to three children – Prince George, 6, Princess Charlotte, 4, and Prince Louis, 2.
