It’s one of the most highly-anticipated film releases of the year and, ahead of its official debut later this summer, the team behind the Barbie movie are teasing tidbits of information straight from the set of the film.

Appearing on The One Show with her co-star America Ferrera, Robbie told how she introduced a series of on-set games during filming.

She told how she got all members of the cast and crew to wear pink on Wednesdays, in an ode to both Barbie and Regina George's dress code in the 2004 film, Mean Girls.

When host Roman Kemp asked her about the rumoured on-set dress code, Margot dished: 'Some people were reluctant at first, so on Wednesdays we wore pink was the game and if you didn't wear pink there was an optional fine that would be donated to charity.'

The crew members who were reluctant to commit to the pink dress code had their trailers covered in glitter and streamers. 'I'd say the grippes were the most resistant. Then I decorated the truck for them since they weren't getting into the pink spirit,' she revealed.

'I snuck off and covered the whole thing in pink streamers and glitter and everything, they got on board after that.'

In another recent interview with Fandango, Margot Robbie, who plays the popular Mattel doll, breaks down the close-up shot of Barbie’s feet slipping out of her slippers.

‘They are my feet,’ the Australian actor confirmed, adding that it only took ‘probably about eight takes, wasn’t that many’.

‘I walked up, we had little sticky bits on the floor – double-sided tape – for the shoes, so they wouldn’t come off. So that I could get my feet out of them. And I was holding on to a bar, but that’s it,’ Robbie explained in the video. ‘I wasn’t in like a harness or anything. I just walked up and kind of held onto the bar above camera.’

Elsewhere, Robbie has also revealed tidbits of spoilers from the set of the film. In a video a recent video for Architectural Digest, in which she filmed a tour of the Barbie set, that she studied old Radox commercials in order to prepare for Barbie’s shower scenes in the upcoming film. 'I would actually just look up old Radox commercials and try and replicate that,' she explained.

Other interesting BTS secrets that Robbie divulged about the set of the film included the fact that Barbie’s home was fully see-through to allow for the Barbies to ‘see each other’, featured a slide that lead from the bedroom to the garden, and had a fake pool.

Margot said it was ‘pretty incredible’ to see the set for the first time. 'I'd spent so long looking at the miniatures, and the models, and the drawings, and the design and then when you see it first time in real life and it's all there... it was really exciting,' she added.

That’s not all. Since the movie wrapped filming in July 2022, a stream of photographs have been shared by the cast. Actor Hari Nef shared a group shot of the cast on Instagram, which included Robbie, Emma Mackey, America Farerra, and Barbie director Greta Gerwig, with the caption ‘It's a wrap for the Doll! see you in Barbieland.’ Actor Sharon Rooney shared the same image to her Instagram with the caption: ‘Barbie, a true gift.’

All we can say is that we can’t wait.

Barbie debuts in cinemas on July 21.
