Women are a core tenet of the worlds of both film and television. In order to celebrate the female forces that fuel both industries, as part of its 40th birthday celebrations, ELLE UK this week launched its 40 For 40: The Women In Film And Television Power List, which spotlights the 40 most influential women working in film and television today — and last night, they convened at London's Bvlgari Hotel to celebrate.

From actor and director Lena Dunham to Baby Reindeer's Jessica Gunning, casting director Kharmel Cochrane, ITV's Head of Drama Polly Hill, and Rivals breakout star Bella Maclean, the Knightsbridge cocktail reception played host to a stable of both established and burgeoning stars. Alongside them were the Power List's illustrious panel of judges, actor Letitia Wright, writer Liv Little, actor Sheila Atim, and author Hanna Flint.

Guests at last night's soirée — including friends of ELLE UK Dina Asher-Smith, Yomi Adegoke and Lucy Boynton — arrived in Mercedes-Benz cars and were greeted with glasses of Moët and Chandon champagne. Canapés served throughout the evening included hors d'oeuvres of salmon blinis and steak frites. With make-up artists from Guerlain partnering to give some special guests glam ahead of the night.

Taking a moment to address the room, ELLE UK's Editor-in-Chief Kenya Hunt said: 'As we continue to mark ELLE’s 40th Anniversary in the UK, we are proud to shine a light on the women re-shaping the future of cinema with the launch of our 40 for 40 Power List. From fan favourites and future stars of [the] screen to the pioneers of creativity behind the scenes, we celebrate established icons and the rising powerhouses who will define the next four decades.'

The Power List is part of a series of empowering initiatives that ELLE UK is curating to mark its milestone birthday, recognising the most influential and impactful women at work today.
