Is there a trailer for 'And Just Like That' season three?
There is indeed. HBO released the first official trailer for the third season of And Just Like That on April 15, and it teased plenty of drama from our favourite set of Manhattanites. In the trailer, Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) describing her relationship with Aidan as 'complicated' when asked about receiving a blank postcard from him. In other scenes from the trailer, Aidan (John Corbett) appears to surprise Carrie at her apartment as Carrie visits him and his two children. Yet, it seems that Aidan may not be the only love interest to pique Carrie's interests — there's also a new neighbour distracting her attentions. 'When the plot twists, we can choose to embrace a new chapter,' Carrie says in the voiceover for the trailer, which finishes with Carrie and Aidan in a loving embrace.
There also seems to be a new love interest on the horizon for Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), who is heard saying, 'I really like her… but it’s a work contact,' hinting at a new love interest post-Che Diaz’s (Sara Ramírez) exit from the show. Meanwhile, their best friend Lisa (Nicole Ari Parker) is also shown asking Charlotte 'it’s okay to have a work crush right?'.
When will 'And Just Like That' season three come out?
There were some production delays following the writers and actors strikes, yet somehow the HBO Gods were on our side and managed to make up for lost time, so the third season will premiere on May 29, 2025.
On May 1, 2024, new cast member Rosie O’Donnell shared a photo from a season three table read on Instagram, hinting that filming was imminent. Then, just a week later, filming officially began.
Who will be in the cast of 'And Just Like That'?
The season two cast comprised of: Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie), Cynthia Nixon (Miranda), Kristin Davis (Charlotte), Sara Ramírez (Che), Sarita Choudhury (Seema), Nicole Ari Parker (Lisa), Karen Pittman (Nya), Mario Cantone (Anthony), David Eigenberg (Steve), Evan Handler (Harry), Christopher Jackson (Herbert), Niall Cunningham (Brady), Cathy Ang (Lily), and Alexa Swinton (Rock).
Ramírez, however, reportedly won’t return to season three, Variety reported on February 26, 2024. Sources told the outlet the exit was due to Che and Miranda’s breakup at the end of the season, which marked a natural conclusion for the character, and not because of Ramírez’s pro-Palestine posts and support for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war on social media.
Pittman is also exiting the production according to a Max spokesperson speaking with Deadline in March 2024.
'It has been a joy to have Karen Pittman play the smart and stunning Professor Nya Wallace on the first two seasons of And Just Like That,' they stated. 'As we have thoroughly enjoyed working with this dynamic actress, so too have others. Due to her commitments to two other streamer series, it has become apparent that filming three shows at once isn't possible.'
The statement concluded, 'Due to the production realities, we are disappointed to announce that scheduling conflicts will not allow us to continue with this character as part of season three of And Just Like That. Karen and Nya will be missed, and her Max family and fans will all be cheering her on in her other endeavours.”
Rosie O’Donnell announced she’s joining the season three cast as a character named Mary, but she didn’t share any further details on the role. 'Here comes Mary,' she said.
John Corbett was also part of the season two cast, reprising his role as Aidan, and will be back for the third season (even his and Carrie’s relationship ended in vague but rocky territory in the season two finale).
Deadline reported in June 2024 that three additional new cast members have joined And Just Like That... season three. Mehcad Brooks from Law & Order, Desperate Housewives’ Jonathan Cake, and Logan Marshall-Green of Prometheus will play new recurring characters, although details on their roles haven’t been revealed just yet. The publication also reported that Sebastiano Pigazzi, who plays Giuseppe in the show, and Dolly Wells, Joy, will be getting more screen time. They’ve been upgraded to series regulars.
In a March 2025 episode of Kristin Davis’s Are You A Charlotte? podcast, the star teased the idea that actor Kyle MacLachlan might make an appearance as Charlotte’s ex-husband, Trey.
'I loved working with Kyle MacLachlan so incredibly much,' she shared. 'We all really just fell madly in love with him and he had to stay.'
However, Davis discovered that MacLachlan didn’t feel right about a new storyline.
'There was an idea that Trey/Kyle would come on in And Just Like That… and then it didn’t happen, and so Kyle and I had to talk about it ’cause I was kind of mad at him, I said "Why didn’t you come on? We wanted you to come on,"' Davis continued. 'And he said, "I just wanted it to be amazing," meaning that it had a kind of almost sad note — I’m not saying too much, I hope Michael’s not mad at me — but it had this incredible lead-up to me seeing Trey again and the thing that I loved most about this particular episode that did not happen is that Charlotte tells the friends that she has not communicated at all with Trey, which is kind of shocking in a way.'
She added, 'She really wants to see him, and I, Kristin, also feel that way. So I’m hoping that we can kind of revisit a "maybe they run into each other just at an event or a restaurant" or something like that.'
But Davis did ultimately understand MacLachlan’s point of view.
'When you have played such a wonderful part in the past that people have such a great memory of, and it was so special as a work experience, you want it to kind of stay in this glorious place, and I think he just didn’t want there to be kind of a sad note to the end,' she explained. 'So I get that.'
Is Samantha Jones back for season three of ‘And Just Like That’?
Sadly, the short answer is no. It was previously unclear if Kim Cattrall will make yet another cameo as Samantha (after her appearance in the season two finale). But on July 21, 2024 People reported that Cattrall will not return to And Just Like That. She responded to a fan’s post on social media about whether she would come back, saying, 'Aw that’s so kind but I’m not,' leaving us all heartbroken.
The actor further explained that it was difficult to play a character for decades on end. In an interview with Variety in 2022, she said, 'It’s a great wisdom to know when enough is enough. I also didn’t want to compromise what the show was to me. The way forward seemed clear.'
She also added, 'Everything has to grow, or it dies. I felt that when the series ended, I thought that’s smart. We’re not repeating ourselves,' she told the outlet. 'And then the movie to end all the loose ends. And then there’s another movie. And then there’s another movie?'
What will 'And Just Like That' season three be about?
Season two saw Carrie rekindling her relationship with Aidan, Miranda investing in her law career after breaking up with Che, and Charlotte going back to work at an art gallery after years of being a stay-at-home mom. What adventures will season three bring?
The season two finale gave us some big hints about where things could go next. (Spoilers ahead!) Carrie and Aidan agree to take a five-year (?!) break, which creates room for Carrie to once again explore her single era. The fact that she ends the season on a beach in Greece with Seema could be the start of some fun adventures between the two of them. Seema is technically in a relationship with film director Ravi, but with him being away on a film shoot for five months, who knows what she’ll be up to.
Miranda might explore a romance with her new acquaintance Joy, who meets her on the set of her BBC interview and stays out talking with her all night. Charlotte seems to be further embracing this new chapter of her career, and juggling responsibilities (fairly) with Harry as working parents. Lisa and Herbert have gained a new perspective after she miscarries, accepting that God will have something else in store for them. And the rest—Mario and Giuseppe, Nya and Chef Toussaint, and Che and Toby — seem to be diving into new relationships.
When did filming start?
On May 10, 2024, Sarah Jessica Parker was spotted filming in Lincoln Centre. She was seen with Alexa Swinton (Rock) and Cathy Ang (Lily), all dressed in colourful outfits.
Sebastiano Pigazzi and Mario Cantone were on set too. The context of the scene is unknown.
On May 21, John Corbett, who plays Aidan, was photographed on set, outside of the apartment that Carrie got after Aidan didn’t want to be reminded of their painful last breakup in her old home.
Parker was seen on set the same day, wearing a sheer nude gown by Simone Rocha. The dress was embellished with pink roses on the front of its skirt and sleeves.
The cast has been spotted filming several times more times, like on May 31, when Nixon and O’Donnell were photographed in Times Square.
Or on July 2, when Parker and Marshall-Green were shooting a scene together outside of Carrie’s apartment.
New photos from set, taken on July 22, show Aidan (John Corbett) and Carrie (Parker) reunited and walking hand in hand. However, the way the rest of the cast and extras were dressed — wearing all black — seem to hint that they were filming a funeral scene, causing fans to question whether any of the characters die next season.
Filming continued well into October, with Parker spotted filming NYC with Nixon and Davis in bold colours and chic fall outfits.
