Nicole Kidman returns for the second season of Nine Perfect Strangers, which will once again explore the dark side of 'wellness' by questionable means. Starring as the unorthodox wellness guru Masha Dmitichenko, who is set on healing her patients, as well as herself with hallucinogenics, season two sees the group head out to the snowy, unnerving Austrian alps.

Set against icy forests, snowfields and snow covered mountains, the group's journey towards healing is set to intensify amid the series' new filming location, says the show's location manager, Florian Kuthe in an interview with Country And Town House.

'I just felt overwhelmed by the scenery in the best way possible... we got there with out directors and producers, they felt it as well, realising: 'This is exceptional and we have to film here.'

While season one of Nine Perfect Strangers was filmed in Byron Bay, New South Wales, Australia, the series itself was set in California.

Where was Nine Perfect Strangers season 2 filmed?

Swapping out the sunny scenery of season one's Byron Bay for the snowy Austrian Alps, the second season is based in fictional resort Zauberwald. In a recent interview with Country & Town House, the series' location manager, Florian Kuthe said: 'This season shifts scenery from Transquilum House in the summery Californian forest to Zauberwald in the snowy European mountains, which obviously brings an exciting change in both look and feel of it.

'The world of the mountains gives us a lot to discover, from icy cold forests and snowfields to warm and welcoming interiors, from grand historic architecture to top-notch design wellness amenitities, from old cobblestone to most elegant palace ballrooms.'

Beyond using the Austrian Alps as the main filming location for the Zauberwald property as well as other scenes, the series features a few other locations. Hotel Krallerhof in Leogang was used to film the Atmosphere Spa, the grand palace of Schloss Leopoldskron in Salzburg was also used within season two. In addition to this, Gradonna Mountain Resort in Kals Großglockner was used to portray the cabins with a view of Zauberwald's castle grounds, as well as Obersee, Tyrol and The Alpine Village of Hallstatt.
