Trick or treating, costume-parades, bobbing for apples and plaiting your hair for a Wednesday Addams vibe might be great way to spend Halloween with the children in your life, but if you're kid-free, several cocktails deep and looking for a special, adults-only time, New York City has got you covered. From spooky strip-teases at the House of Yes, through to warehouses of horrors, buckle in for a spine-chilling night.
House Of Yes
In pole position on our list of Halloween horror happenings, is Bushwick's House of Yes.
Purveyors of enchanting, full-throttle, frequently-themed parties, the House of Yes is a den of debauchery, daring performances, glitter and fun.
From Burning Man parties, through to disco and burlesque, the House of Yes fans the flames of physical artistry. And as the name suggests, it's also a place where literally anything goes.

On Friday, October 25 and Saturday, October 26, HoY and ZERO present their City of Gods Halloween special at Grand Prospect Hall. A party of deities, demigods and demons, creatures of creation and those devoted to hedonism beyond the human realm.
Expect the venue to be a warren of temples and altars, shrines and sanctuaries for your play and pleasure and for the costumes to be extreme.
At House of Yes proper, the offering is no less exciting. On Thursday 24, they are hosting a Zombie Prom: A Night to Dismember. Come rise from the dead and dance your brains out with your fellow Zombie high school class.
On both Saturday 25 and Sunday 26, the early evening is given over to their Halloween Horrorvaganza - a series of performances from the finest, fittest and most ferocious performers, including circus stars, fire-breathers and more.
And on Saturday, October 26, after the Halloween Horrorvaganza performances are through, stay for the House of Hallucinations party. Billed as: Take a trip through your psyche into a world of psychedelic nightmares. Let your weird and wild visions morph into disturbed reality as you wander through Halloween at the House of Hallucinations.
Sleep No More Hitchcock Halloween Party
If you've spent the evening at the McKittrick Hotel in the last few years, to experience Punchdrunk's incredible piece of immersive theatre, Sleep No More, then you might already consider yourself to have had a spooky enough experience. The encompassing, dark performance, set across four floors of a disused hotel is haunting as it is.
For Halloween 2019, however, the McKittrick has announced an extremely exciting extension of their usual bill of play.As well as feasting on the Sleep No More drama, you can prolong your stay at the former hotel, for a Hitchcock-themed dance party, taking place across all the same levels of the venue.
Expect more live performances, a richly detailed set and an open bar.
Masque of the Red Death Halloween Ball
If we haven't stated it plainly enough already, this is an adults-only Halloween event selection. And none more so than fetish-club Dances of Vice's 2019 offering.
Inspired by master of horror, writer Edgar Allan Poe, the 'Masque of the Red Death' Halloween Ball is named after one of his more unnerving short stories, which centres on a medieval satan-worshipping prince, who hides in a tower as everyone around him dies of a horrible plague.
Expect fetish attire: leather, latex, masks; performances, BDSM and much more.
Warehouse of Horrors
Events company BangOn!NYC is famed for unforgettable experiences and this Halloween, they are taking over hundred-year-old warehouse Queens' knockdown centre for a two day performance and music bonanza.
Headliners include Justin Martin, Claude Vonstroke, San Holo and more. Expect performers, art installations and plenty of interactive experiences.
Bartow-Pell Haunted Mansion Tour
If you're not so much into the nightclubbing, but you still want to partake in something spooky, what about a Halloween mansion tour?
In 1654 Thomas Pell, a physician from Connecticut, bought about 50,000 acres from the Lenape people, who had inhabited the land for centuries. And then in 1836 a Pell relative, Robert Bartow, bought more of the land and built the present Greek Revival mansion.
And on October 26, 2019, you can come and see the mansion decorated for Halloween. Watch out for spirits and other creatures as you intrepidly make your way through the mansion and grounds.
