At this point, the BBC adaptation of Sally Rooney's bestselling novel that exploded onto the small screen during the pandemic shouldn't require an introduction, but for the uninitiated, Normal People tells the story of Marianne and Connell as they fall in and out of each other's lives and the love that ebs and flows between them in the intervening years. The series made stars of its protagonists, Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones, and is sure to tug at even the most stoic of heartstrings.

High Fidelity (2020)

Another TV serialisation of a bestselling novel, Hulu's adaptation of Nick Hornby's High Fidelity was released to rapturous applause in 2020. Starring Zoë Kravitz, the series, according to Hulu, follows 'the ultimate music fan, a record store owner who's obsessed with pop culture and Top Five lists' in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Crown Heights. Not only has it got one of the coolest casts, but its timeless soundtrack is toe-tappingly good and totally unbeatable.

Bridgerton (2020)

It's hard to believe it's been almost four years since we first fell in love with the Bridgerton (TV) universe, but such are the potent love stories of the likes of Daphne Bridgerton, Penelope Featherington and Kate Sharma.
