Based on the delightful New York Times column of the same name, each episode of Prime Video's Modern Love is based on a different love story that takes place across the Big Apple. Starring Dev Patel, Anne Hathaway, Kit Harington and Lucy Boynton, this is a series that will make you laugh, cry and fall in love over and over again. Plus, there are only two seasons so it's entirely binge-worthy in one night. Just add wine, nibbles and your biggest box of tissues.
Normal People (2020)
At this point, the BBC adaptation of Sally Rooney's bestselling novel that exploded onto the small screen during the pandemic shouldn't require an introduction, but for the uninitiated, Normal People tells the story of Marianne and Connell as they fall in and out of each other's lives and the love that ebs and flows between them in the intervening years. The series made stars of its protagonists, Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones, and is sure to tug at even the most stoic of heartstrings.
Heartstopper (2022)
Based on the YA book of the same name by Alice Oseman, Heartstopper is the British coming-of-age drama that tells the story of Charlie and Nick as they begin to discover that their unlikely friendship might be something more than just a platonic love. It’s gentle, endearing, heart-warming and perfect for curling up in front of when in need of a feel-good romantic fix.
The Summer I Turned Pretty (2022)
A story about first love, first heartbreak, and the magic of that one perfect summer, The Summer I Turned Pretty is the definition of TV escapism. The series, which currently only has two perfectly bingeable seasons, tells the story of Belly, played by Lola Tung, as she finds herself caught in a love triangle between two brothers.
High Fidelity (2020)
Another TV serialisation of a bestselling novel, Hulu's adaptation of Nick Hornby's High Fidelity was released to rapturous applause in 2020. Starring Zoë Kravitz, the series, according to Hulu, follows 'the ultimate music fan, a record store owner who's obsessed with pop culture and Top Five lists' in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Crown Heights. Not only has it got one of the coolest casts, but its timeless soundtrack is toe-tappingly good and totally unbeatable.
Bridgerton (2020)
It's hard to believe it's been almost four years since we first fell in love with the Bridgerton (TV) universe, but such are the potent love stories of the likes of Daphne Bridgerton, Penelope Featherington and Kate Sharma. While seasons one and two explore the love stories of Daphne and Kate, respectively, season three explores Penelope and Colin Bridgerton's steamy romance, and has us swooning over the friends to love plot.
