Severance sees Adam Scott star as Mark Scout (Mark S), a former
history professor specializing in World War I at the University in Ganz. Now, he leads a team of employees at Lumon Industries as a Macrodata Refinement Chief after his colleague Petey left. Mark has been at Lumon for about two years, starting shortly after the presumed death of his wife, Gemma, in a car accident.

Scott rose to fame after appearing in Parks and Recreation as Ben Wyatt (2010–2015). Besides this, Scott is known for featuing in the following films and TV series: Step Brothers (2008), Party Down (2009–2010), Parks and Recreation (2009–2015), The Good Place (2016-2020), Big Little Lies (2017–2019), Shot Tub Time Machine (2010), Friends with Kids (2011), The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013).

Scott has a number of films in pre-production and currently in production, including A Sprinkle of History, Hokum and The Whisper Man, where he will star opposite Robert De Niro.

Zach Cherry plays Dylan George, who is sometimes referred to as Dylan G. He is a Macrodata Refiner at Lumon Industries and one of the more the most lighthearted members of the group, who often provides comic relief throughout the series. Known for his quirky habit of sticking Post-It notes to his face (Sticky Head), Dylan also refers to his fellow Macrodata Refiners as 'macrodats.' While his playful nature shines through, he harbours a deep suspicion of the other departments, often blaming ruthless and harsh behaviour to these groups he had never encountered prior to the events of seasons one and two.

Much like the rest of his co-stars, Cherry has starred in a number of successful TV series' and films such as Succession (2010), The Big Sick, Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Duncanville (2020-22), Fallout (2024). Most recently, Cherry has featured in You Hurt My Feelings (2023), Star Trek: Lower Decks (2023) and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man (2025)

Britt Lower stars as Helena Eagan/Helly Riggs, who is sometimes referred to as Helly R who works as a Macrodata Refiner and is the only child of CEO Jame Eagan. Innie Helly is extremely unhappy in her role, and even views death as a better option. Outie Helena, on the other hand, does not recognise Innies as real people.

Lower gained widespread recognition after starring in the crime drama series Unforgettable (2011–2014), the romantic comedy series Man Seeking Woman (2015–2017). Last year she featured in The Shallow Tale of a Writer Who Decided to Write About a Serial Killer (2024) and Darkest Miriam (2024).

Tramell Tillman stars as Seth Milchick, the former primary employee liaison on the Severed Floor at Lumon Industries, as well as providing security support. In this role, he oversaw the administration of the Compunction Statement in the Break Room and escorted employees during any changes to their routine, floor layout, and spatially ordered access. While he appeared to serve similar functions for other departments on the Severed Floor, not just MDR, the details on this are not widely known in season one.

Tillman's first main role in a TV series came from his role as Seth Milchick in Severance, and since then he's landed three seperate roles in Sweethearts (2024), and in the upcoming projects, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning (2025) and Barron's Cove (2025).

Jen Tullock plays Devon Scout-Hale, Mark Scout's younger sister and the wife of aspirational author, Ricken Hale.

While Tullock is best known for her role in Severance, she has also made a number of TV and film appearances in film and TV shows including: Partners, Henry, Fils, Base (2015), 6 Balloons (2018), Before You Know It (2019), The Coop (2019), Spirited (2022), Love, Me (2022), Cora Bora (2023).

Gemma, or sometimes known as Ms. Casey, is portrayed by Dichen Lachman. She is a Mark Scout's wife and was the former Wellness Counselor on the Severed Floor at Lumon Industries, and was once a professor of Russian Literature at Ganz College. Currently, she lives full-time on the Testing Floor at Lumon. While it is not known how her time at Lumon began, it is thought that it was after her death in a car accident.

Lachman rose to prominence in the soap opera Neighbours (2005–2007) and in Dollhouse (2009–2010). Since then, Lachman has appeared in the likes of NCIS: Los Angeles, Hawaii Five-0 (2010), The 100 (2010), Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2014–2015, 2020).

Michael Chernus protrays Dr. Ricken Lazlo Hale, an unconventional motivational author with five self-help books, including his lastest, The You You Are. Hale is married to Devon Scout-Hale and is the brother-in-law of Mark Scout.

Prior to featuring in Severance, Chernus has starred in the following: The Messenger (2009), The Rebound (2009), (Feed the Fish), Love & Other Drugs (2010), Orange Is the New Black(2013–2019), Captain Phillips (2013), Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and more.

Recently, Chernus has also featured in Out of My Mind (2024), A Complete Unknown (2024), Köln 75 (2025).

John Turturro stars as Irving Bailiff, who was once the highest-ranking Macrodata Refiner at Lumon Industries, having joined the company nine years before the events of season one, despite claiming to have been there for just three. With a no-nonsense attitude, Bailiff takes the Kier philosophy seriously and enforces Lumon's rules. Irving often reminds his colleagues when they have stepped out of line.

Turturro earned his career breakthrough with Five Corners (1987). Since then, he's starred in a number of film and TV projects including: Do the Right Thing (1989), Mo' Better Blues (1990), Jungle Fever (1991), Clockers (1995), Miller's Crossing (1990), Barton Fink (1991), The Big Lebowski (1998), Gloria Bell (2018), the Transformers film series (2007–2017) The Batman (2022).

Patricia Arquette features in Severance as Harmony Cobel, a former severed floor manager at Lumon Industries, who used a false identity to present herself as Mark Scout’s Outie’s neighbor, Mrs. Selvig. Mrs. Selvig allegedly works in Swab Girl, selling soaps and bath bombs. She also bakes unsettling chamomile and lavender cookies, which Mark eats out of sheer politeness. Unlike her other colleagues, she is not severed.

Arquette's first feature film debut role came early in her career when she starred in A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987). The award winning actor has starred in a number of successful films including True Romance (1993), Ed Wood (1994), Flirting with Disaster (1996), Lost Highway (1997), The Hi-Lo Country (1998), Bringing Out the Dead (1999), and Holes (2003), Medium (2005-11).

Sarah Bock stars as Miss Huang, the youngest employee at Lumon Industries. She is the deputy manager of the Severed Floor, and reports directly to the Severed Floor Manager and stepping in to oversee the floor in their absence. Her responsibilities include managing the daily operations of the Macrodata Refinement department and escorting employees whenever there are changes to their routines, floor layout, or spatial access. While she appears to assist other severed departments in a similar ways, the full extent of her involvement outside of MDR is unknown. Miss Huang is more senior than all of the other employees in Macrodata Refinement, and possibly across the entire Severed Floor.

An actor on the rise, 18-year-old Sarah Bock joined the second season of Severance this year, but prior to this has only starred in the film Bruiser (2022) and the North Carolina Theatre production of Annie (2019).

Bock auditioned for the role at just 15 years old, in 2022. The series' executive producer and director Ben Stiller spoke highly of her audition and performance during an interview with TVLine, 'This wonderful young actress came in and auditioned, and I was just blown away by her. She's got such poise and such intelligence and such sensitivity, and yet also has the ability to put forth this imposing facade, too. She's just been a gift to the show. I love her.'
